Our Tips For Calming Rosacea

Rosacea is a common skin concern, usually presenting on the face, which looks like a red, bumpy, sometimes inflamed, rash. Rosacea can cause a burning, stinging or sore sensation in the skin.

At Cedars Dermatology skin clinic in Elstree, our Consultant Dermatologist, Dr Anjali Mahto, is well-placed to offer rosacea treatment. A member of the British Medical Association, British Association of Dermatologists and British Skin Foundation amongst others, she is also an award-winner, has been featured in the media and specialises in rosacea, as well as numerous other concerns.

In this post, we’ll talk through some of our top tips for helping to ease symptoms of rosacea. Of course, we do always invite you to book an appointment with Dr Anjali Mahto herself, as she can give more tailored advice in managing your skin.

Amp up the self-care

One of the best things you can do is practice good self-care for your skin:

– Use an unperfumed soap or moisturiser and try not to rub or scrub at your face

– Apply daily sun protection to skin (at least SPF30), even on a cloudy day

– Avoid heavy use of cosmetics, which could cause flare-ups

– Keep a list of lifestyle factors that might make your condition worse

Talk to the experts about rosacea

As a Consultant Dermatologist on Harley Street, Dr Anjali Mahto can help make tailored recommendations for your skin. When it comes to skincare and medicines:

– Avoid corticosteroids and acne treatments, unless specifically recommended for your skin

– Check your medications with your doctor, in case these are aggravating your condition

Look into treatments

There are lots of ways we can help with your condition with a diverse range of rosacea treatments. Options include everything from topical applications to taking antibiotics, and even trying laser treatment.

Severe cases

Of course, some cases of rosacea are particularly severe. In these instances, you may be referred to an eye specialist or be advised to take isotretinoin tablets, which can help treat spots.
