Acne
Though most commonly associated with the skin of the face, acne can break out on the body as well. Those with oily skin and excess sebum can experience breakouts on the back and upper chest, among other areas. Acne can be unsightly and undermine self-confidence, especially when the condition is severe, but acne breakouts are more than a cosmetic issue; if left untreated, they can leave scars and pits in the skin, making early treatment and prevention even more important.
We offer several effective treatments for active acne that tackle the root causes of the issue, unclogging and deeply cleansing the skin.
Moles
Moles are extremely common and are typically benign skin lesions, but many people want them removed because of their appearance. Some moles are visible at birth while others occur in the skin over time, including those related to sunlight exposure and increased melanin production. Though most moles are harmless, it’s important to monitor them for changes in shape, size, or colour that might signal the development of cancer.
At Cedars Dermatology, we offer treatments for the removal of benign and cancerous moles.
PSORIASIS
Psoriasis is a common condition, the main symptoms of which are red, dry, and scaled or crusted patches of skin on the face and body. The condition can occur anywhere on the body, including the hands, feet, and in folds of skin. In normal, healthy skin, the outer layer contains cells which are formed in the deepest layers and then move up towards the surface, gradually changing as they go over 3 to 4 weeks, but in psoriasis, the rate of turnover is dramatically increased within the affected skin, so that cells are formed and shed in as little as 3 or 4 days.
At Cedars Dermatology we offer effective treatments for psoriasis, from mild to severe instances of the condition.
MELASMA
Though most commonly associated with the skin of the face, melasma can occur on the body too – the shoulders, arms, neck, and back, or anywhere that is exposed to the sun. The condition causes brown or grey blemishes in the skin, appearing either as flat patches or freckle-like spots. Melasma occurs because of hormonal changes and is worsened by the overproduction of melanin – the pigment which darkens the skin during exposure to sunlight.
At Cedars Dermatology, we offer effective therapies for the treatment of melasma.
ECZEMA
Eczema is a an extremely common, inflammatory condition that results in red, dry, and itchy skin, which in turn can sometimes become weeping, blistered, crusted, scaling and thickened. The condition can affect people of any age but most commonly starts in childhood, affecting 1 in every 5 children in the UK. Some people only have localised patches of dry skin, but others may experience widespread inflammation and the cracking of skin over their entire body.
At Cedars Dermatology, we offer effective therapies for the treatment of eczema.
